The best of design from your desk: get lost in online catalogues and encyclopedias

Today we’ve spent a bit too long wandering through the awesome archives of Eames Designs – an entire website dedicated to all things Eames.
Self-described as “A Virtual Encyclopedia of all things Eames,” the site is a collaborative effort between museums, scholars, collectors, students and Eames fans.
The sites goal is to create the most comprehensive and accurate source of Eames information and includes an excellent catalog of Eames designs, broken down into catetgories & listed by year.
You’ll also find a really comprehensive library, full of articles and interviews and biographies.
There is also an Eames Spotting section – where Eames in TV, movies, ad campaigns and more are shared with the Eames loving community.
Like William Shatner in an Eames or Eames chairs in a supporting role in the latest Prada campaign. Fun!

You can check out an interview with editor, Daniel Ostroff, about why he created the site here.
If that gets you in the mood for image browsing (because it got us in the mood for more design ogling) head on over to the MoMa website where you can sift through the entire collection at your leisure. It’s like a day at the museum from your desk!
