These critters are part of a collection drawn by art students in Grade 3 of Ishinomaki Kobunkan High School and Ishinomaki Nishi High School, assisted by volunteers from the design teams at Herman Miller and Living Edge.
The project was part of a relief support initiative conducted by Herman Miller in collaboration with Ishinomaki Laboratory in the city of Ishinomaki, Japan, from November 13 – 27, 2011.
In addition to offering creative workshops, the project addressed the shortage of furniture in temporary housing in the Ishinomaki area. In two weeks, volunteers assisted members of the community to make 220 stools, 120 benches, 110 hanging storage units and 25 community benches to custom designs.
Living Edge is pleased to support the ongoing recovery effort through Herman Miller and Ishinomaki Laboratory.
Living Edge wishes everyone a safe and happy holiday!
