The website eames-chair.com is a must the Eames obsessed. It’s a great resource for anything Eames related and it is full of an interesting content. Recently featured was this Herman Miller sponsored Eames Chair Art Auction where 11 designers were invited to modify a classic Eames moulded plywood lounge chair to raise money for charity. Todd Oldham’s design (below) received the highest bid.

I see this done a lot and while I am interested in how designers of today interpret and modify existing designs I wonder how this idea can be moved on. Am I the only one who is over seeing chairs done in different fabrics or with unusual features added?
